                           Welcome to Year 5T and 5W

 Dear parents and Carers,

We are absolutely delighted to welcome you and all the children to Year 5. It's going to be a fantastic year filled with exciting learning opportunities, memorable experiences and lots of fun.

PE is taking place on a Thursday this half term.  Children need to come to school wearing their school PE kit on these days.  If your child cannot remove their own earrings please make sure they are not worn to school on a Thursday.  Long hair should be tied up on these days.

5T are also going swimming on a Monday afternoon.  5W will be going swimming from February onwards.

All children have a login for Edshed.  This is where they will find their weekly spelling and maths homework.  Spellings will be send home on a Monday and tested in school on a Friday.

TT Rockstars should also be used regularly at home.

All children are expected to be reading 5 times in a week.  Reading diaries need to be signed and bought in to school everyday.

We have some amazing things planned for this year. Details will be shared with you before things happen - so keep an eye out!

                          This Term's Learning Focus 

History:  This term we will be learning all about the Ancient Greeks.  In our DT lessons we will be tasting and making Greek Food.

Guided Reading

Our focus book is 'Who let the Gods Out?' Through this text, children will develop the skills of retrieval, inference, prediction, explaining and summarising. 

Maths

We will be working on key areas including:

1. Place Value
2. Multiplication and division

Science

Our science topic this term is:

• Forces
