Alongside our academic pursuits, we will also celebrate the talents and achievements of every individual in our classes, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration.

We look forward to sharing all the wonderful activities and experiences that await our Year 5 learners. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.

                                           Sailing

Over the last two weeks, Year 5 has been having an absolute blast out on the water! The children had the fantastic opportunity to go sailing, where they learned about the different parts of a boat, picked up some handy sailing vocabulary along the way, learned various types of knots, and did some crabbing. They were so excited to get their hands on the ropes and take control of the sails!

To top it all off, we were incredibly lucky to have an unexpected visitor- a sea lion! The kids were in awe as they watched it frolicking nearby, adding an extra bit of magic to their sailing experience.

This adventure isn't just a one-off: we're thrilled that such opportunities will continue for the children. We hope they've been sharing their stories of the super fun they had while sailing with you at home! It's been great to see them so engaged and enthusiastic about learning, and we look forward to more exciting activities in the future.

Thank you for being so supportive. Here's to many more adventures ahead!

                                 Upcoming events

We're thrilled to share some fantastic events lined up for Year 5!

On 27th June, we will have a special visit from a representative of Anglian Water. This engaging session will focus on important themes such as water conservation and the water cycle, beautifully connecting with our geography topic. The children are excited about this visit, eager to showcase their knowledge and ask insightful questions. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to learn from an expert and enhance their understanding of these vital concepts.

Then, on June 30th, Year 5 will participate in an inspiring whole-school workshop led by MAD Education. This session will emphasise the importance of outdoor learning, bringing our students together through various communication tasks. The aim is to boost their confidence by encouraging them to tackle challenges as a team.

To wrap up our month of exciting activities, we will be visiting the Art Gallery at Firstsite on 15th July. Stay tuned for more information on this artistic adventure!

As you can see, it's an exciting time for Year 5, filled with learning and growth. We can't wait to see all the wonderful experiences our students will have!

                                             Anglian water visit

We are thrilled to share that our Year 5 pupils had an engaging visit from Anglian Water! The session was not only informative but also highly interactive, sparking the students' curiosity about the world of water. During the visit, the children learned all about the water cycle, from evaporation to precipitation, and the importance of each stage. They discovered practical tips on how to save water at home, helping them to become more environmentally conscious. It was impressive to see them grasp the concept of water recycling and reuse, understanding how essential it is for our daily lives.

The highlight of the day was the hands-on activity, during which the children had the opportunity to practice the steps involved in filtering water. They enjoyed getting their hands dirty and seeing firsthand how impurities are removed. Additionally, the session provided a fascinating insight into what happens in our sewage systems, emphasising the vital role they play in keeping our communities clean and safe.

A huge thank you to Anglian Water for delivering such an educational experience! We hope this visit will inspire our students to take an active role in water conservation and appreciate the importance of clean water in our lives.
